Use of the knowledge of mathematics for work with a credit card

Abstract

The paper deals with the issue of credit cards that in the past years have become a very favourite financial product with a lot of people. On the one hand, the ownership of credit card can bring a lot of advantages to its user, but on the other hand he/she can face a number of problems. The paper shows on model situations the pros and cons of the use of credit cards. Stated model situations are convenient for incorporation into the teaching at secondary schools as they can contribute to improvement of financial literacy of students – the future participants in financial market. In order to solve the situations, simple mathematical calculations have been applied.
