Abstract

This article describes the construction of a simple microwave radiometer, which can be used for demonstration purposes, not only in the teaching of astrophysics, but also to effectively support the interpretation of the field of black-body radiation. It is usually very surprising for the students that they themselves emit electromagnetic radiation at frequencies in the order of tens of GHz. The device uses commonly available satellite TV components, which can be purchased at very low cost, and a simple diode detector circuit.
