Abstract

Pupils' misconception of probability is often caused by the lack of their experiences. In this paper we introduce a real problem, which is too difficult for them to solve by the exact mathematical methods. We propose to reformulate this problem and to use the simulation in order to obtain an approximate solution of our real problem. The main aim is to provide pupils the valuable experiences with experimenting, recording and evaluating data. The proposal is intended for the teachers of mathematics at the secondary schools.
