Abstract

The article describes experience with the use of a simple tool – raft made of a polystyrene board and table tennis balls – in explanation of Archimedes' principle to pupils. This series of experiments described below was performed in a demonstrative way at direct presence of pupils. While solving seven tasks, the pupils got familiar with characteristics of the raft (mainly load-carrying capacity) and the alternatives to influence them.
