Abstract

The paper introduces basic ideas of fuzzy logic. The inception of fuzzy logic was a response to some fundamental shortcomings of classical logic, in particular, a limited capability to work with imprecise concepts, i.e. concepts that are commonly employed by humans. Fuzzy logic represents a modern research direction which became an important pillar of artificial intelligence and which found applications in many products of everyday use.
