On the construction of the n-th roots of positive real numbers

Abstract

The paper deals with a geometric construction of the n-th root of a real number based on the usage of generalized unit parabolas. The proofs of all presented constructions and supplementary exercises rely on tools of analytic geometry at the high school level.
