Abstract

This article deals with learning how to create web pages, specifically focusing on the CSS preprocessor SASS. Teaching the basics of web front-end development is an important part of computer science at various school levels. However, often only the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are taught, which is not sufficient for creating complex web pages. CSS preprocessors such as SASS offer extensions to the basic CSS syntax and allow for more efficient and structured code writing. This article explains the basic principles of CSS preprocessors, their history and development, and details the installation and use of SASS. Code examples and practical exercises are provided that can be part of a class. While CSS preprocessors are not a substitute for a deep knowledge of CSS, they can help students better understand and apply advanced techniques.
