On an area of tangential rectangles of an ellipse

Abstract

The article deals with tangential rectangles of a given ellipse. We find necessary and sufficient conditions for the rectangle to have a maximum or minimum area. The area of ​​a tangential rectangle is maximal if and only if it is a square whose vertices lie on the axes of the ellipse, and the area is minimal if and only if the sides of the rectangle are parallel to the axes of the ellipse.
