Abstract

The article is a brief survey of the history of the teaching of differential and integral calculus in the Czech territory within the period from the second half of the 18th century to the end of the 19th century. We focus on the teaching of mathematics carried out at the University of Prague. Aside from several distinguished professors of mathematics who were developing the infinitesimal calculus at the university at the time, we mention the most significant mathematician who worked in Bohemia during the first half of the 19th century, Bernard Bolzano. Finally, we recall the first textbooks of mathematical analysis written in Czech.
