About a problem from the 43rd Mathematical Olympiad

Abstract

The author's solution to the geometric problem MO 43 A-S-2 was incomplete, after the competition there were problems with completing it. The article mentions the history of these events and presents two relatively simple solutions to the problem. The first of them converts the problem to the construction of tangents from a point to a hyperbola. The second one uses the method of areas and it is based on knowledge from the first year of secondary school.
